This is by far the best Mexican and Seafood Restaurant in the entire RGV and beyond BAR NONE, have visited at least 20 Mexican Restaurants here in the RGV and no one comes close. The Botana is delicious and have Extremely generous servings, 5 or 6 people can eat from a Botana for 2, it's incredible to see how much food you get on your plate, Customer service is the best and they never disappoint. The food is always hot and tasty, at times it takes a while to get your food, around 20 minutes depending on how busy it is, but it is worth the wait. Highly recommend Ciro's. When my family visits from out of town, they prefer Ciro's over any other Mexican Restaurant in the RGV.

Within 5 mins of 5 people we were able to be seated and drink for everyone, which is always a green flag for me. Salsa was your normal salsa not some of the best authentic kind but what surprised me was the caldo soup that came as a starter. The caldo was plain out amazing and made me flash memories of my Childhood when my grandmother would make it for me. I ordered the Botana con fajitas for 6 and let me tell you, if you were looking for a place that actually served BIG botanas. This placed served is almost 10 lbs worth of fajitas, AMAZING experience.

One of the valleys hidden treasures. This place has been around for years... The food was great 30 years ago and still great today with good sized portions. Ever time I am in the area I make it point to stop in. Unfortunately it is not off the highway so the only way you would know about the place is by word of mouth or family tradition.

One of the first things I like to do when I come back home to the Rio Grande Valley (the valley), is to feast on a delicious and hunger busting botana! Is the RGV the birthplace to this cheesy, meat and bean tostada dish? Maybe. All I know now is that living in Central Texas, people who have visited the Valley have told me how much they love this dish and how disappointed they are to not be able to find it elsewhere in Texas. I agree with them, it's hard to find this dish outside of the Valley. There are variations but nothing comes close to that Valley touch. I have three go to locations for botanas, Trevino's in Edinburg and two in Weslaco, Casa de Mariscos and Ciro's. This is a review for Ciro's. I visited this establishment many times over the years and they rarely disappoint food-wise. The atmosphere is pleasant and the decor not too overdone with reminders that you are in a Mexican eatery. The waiters are all dressed with dark pants, white shirt and dark vests, giving the impression that maybe at one point the restaurant tried to be more upscale than the area could attract? Most diners are very casual, I was in camouflage shorts and sneakers and the kids in sandals! We arrived just before the lunch hour crowd so the place was almost empty. We could tell the waitstaff was still making preparations for the noontime rush as the servers folded napkins and silverware together. We were greeted at the door by the hostess and cashier, asked how many in our party and quickly escorted to our seats. In no time our server was greeting us, handing us our menus and taking our drink orders. We knew exactly what we were coming for and that was a beef and chicken fajita botana for four people. We were three adults, one teenager, four children and from past experiences we knew it was going to be a lot of food. Our friendly and chatty waiter mentioned something that's fairly new to us, we get to choose a third type of meat and although I can't quite remember all the choices it was a decent list with many items to add. We chose tripitas doradas on a side plate. The botana dish also came with a large plate of refried beans and rice, a second plate with guacamole, diced onions, tomatoes and jalapeños and eight large flour tortillas. When the food arrived it was like expected, a nice heaping mound of juicy marinated beef and chicken fajita over cheesy bean tostadas and four quesadillas with a different type of cheese from the one used on the tostadas. The food was hot and delicious and the tripas were golden crispy and tenderly easy to chew, done just right in my opinion. Needless to say we were all rubbing our bellies from the satisfying meal and even took a plateful of the remaining botana home (I just ate it today before writing this review). All in all this was a great experience. The food is delicious and the price is super reasonable, a great value if you have a decent size crowd to feed. There are also plenty of other dishes on the menu, all the typical Tex mex flair and many authentic Mexican dishes. I like their seafood dishes, especially the caldo de mariscos (seafood soup) the broth is so savory and tasteful and you get a generous amount of fish and shrimp. From time to time the service can be spotty and inattentive but it's usually during peak hours and not done on purpose still it's part of the job so that's why only four stars instead of five.
